A kitchen built to keep, not to photograph.
The client wanted a working kitchen her family would still love in thirty years — not a showpiece. We opened the original four-wall plan into the main living space so the room could host weeknight dinners and twenty people at once without changing character.
Coffered ceiling, drawn for height.
A deep coffered plaster ceiling replaces the original flat slab, giving the room forty extra centimetres of apparent height. Linear pendants run along the central axis. The lighting layout was set with the joinery, not added after.
Calacatta viola, fluted oak, brushed bronze.
Cabinetry is fluted European oak, hand-oiled three times. The island is a single block of calacatta viola from Carrara, finished with a 4 mm chamfered bronze edge. Hardware is bespoke — every pull, every hinge, drawn for the room.
A modern Italian kitchen that works hard quietly.
The kitchen sits between two living spaces and serves both. The family eats there every morning, hosts there every weekend.
